Bedford Gallery offers many enriching volunteer opportunities with no prior knowledge of art or art history required! Volunteering at Bedford Gallery is fun and provides an opportunity to make friends, learn about art, and help foster love for the arts in our community.

Gallery Docents are trained to lead gallery and public art walking tours, while Guild Volunteers provide hospitality and information to visitors, and teach art workshops. Through our volunteer opportunities, you can be a part of Bedford Gallery's behind-the-scenes activities and learn about contemporary art and artists of the Bay Area.

  • Work in a dynamic atmosphere with curators, artists, and art historians

Docents

Bedford Gallery Docents lead tours of gallery exhibitions for children and adults. Docents receive special training in art history and effective touring techniques. Through exciting interactive tours and participatory discussions, Docents provide an invaluable service to the Bay Area community.

Many schools can no longer offer their students an integrated art education. Our Docents offer valuable arts education by leading youth tours, workshops and our in-school classroom program, Art in a Suitcase.

Youth tours and Art in a Suitcase visits are by appointment and scheduled for weekday mornings.
