About this Mural
Previously hung on the exterior wall overlooking the patio of Mel’s Diner, this detailed, multi-media mural pays homage to Walnut Creek’s 1950s cruising culture. It references historic local landmarks such as St. Paul's Chapel, El Rey Theater, Shadelands Ranch, Lesher Center for the Arts, and Century Theaters.
About the Artists
The artist, Roman Rudnev, who goes by the name Maska, was born in Kazakhstan in 1985 and moved to the Bay Area as a child. His cartoony style melds his passion for graffiti and his early love of Hanna-Barbera and Disney cartoons. Maska is an experienced woodworker and he applies a sculptural, cut-out aesthetic to this new piece in true pop art fashion. He is represented by Local Edition Creative.
Location: On the south wall of of Civic Park Assembly Hall at 1375 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek, CA
