About this Sculpture

Working primarily in painted aluminum and stainless-steel beams, Mazzilli fabricates her pieces from aluminum elements welded together in progression to form spirals and curves. These sections are bolted together to create a dynamic, three-dimensional composition. She selects bright and invigorating colors, such as the orange-red shade here.

About the Artist

Roselyn Mazzilli’s work is “inspired by nature, by her imagers and endless palette of color,” she writes in an artist’s statement.  “Like natural forms, my sculptures are rhythmically alive, gracefully poised, and seemingly kinetic, like the moment a bird spreads its wings into flight, like petals of a flower fanned to form a blossom.” She received an MFA in sculpture at San Jose State University and maintained a Bay Area studio for many years. She is now retired.
