About

The Walnut Creek Library Community Art Gallery was created to encourage the development of artistic expression and to foster greater appreciation for art in our community.

The Library Community Art Gallery is a program of The City of Walnut Creek’s Arts, Recreation and Community Services Department, and is managed by a panel of the Walnut Creek Arts Commission.

PLEASE NOTE: The Community Art Gallery is NOT a program of the Library. Library staff will not be able to answer questions.

Exhibition Wall Diagram

3 adjacent walls, 128 inches tall (10 feet 8 inches).
Hanging track for cable and hook display system at 94 inches height (7 feet, 10 inches).
Wall A: 18 feet wide.
Wall B: 24 feet wide.
Wall C: 8 feet wide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your artwork criteria?

Our Library Community Art Gallery includes 53 feet wall space. (See diagram above.)

Up to 20 artworks may be exhibited.
Artwork must be two-dimensional. No 3D work will be considered.
Artwork pieces cannot exceed 15 pounds.
Artwork must use the gallery's on-site cable and hook display system.
Work must be ready-to-hang with wire or D‐rings.
No glass in frames, plexiglas only.
If artworks require leveling please use Quakehold, available at any hardware store. No other products are accepted as they will damage the wall.

Do not change, alter or remove artworks after installation.

How do I apply?

The 2025-2026 season begins July 1, 2025, and the deadline for proposals is April 1, 2025. The schedule will be announced by May 15, 2025. Thank you for your interest!

Applications must include —

A completed Proposal Application Form.
Application fee, check made payable to City of Walnut Creek.
A disk or USB thumb drive of NO MORE THAN 20 artworks. Slides, photographs, and email submissions will NOT be accepted.
Images must be numbered, 1700 px. (maximum width or height), 72 DPI, JPG format.
Itemized image inventory list — include image number, artist, title, date of completion of artwork, medium, and size (height by width).
A simple layout of the installation proposal. Use the Exhibition Wall Diagram above.
