About

Stitched: Contemporary Embroidery explores the evolution of embroidery and the artists who are redefining the medium. Works by 18 national and international artists bring new perspectives to the genre, which has historically been labeled as ‘women’s work’ and commonly dismissed in fine art conversations. By merging traditional embroidery techniques with innovative approaches and social/political themes, the artists in this exhibition create powerful narratives that challenge outdated perceptions and elevate textile art to new heights.

Stitched serves as a deep dive into contemporary embroidery practices and encourages visitors to experience embroidery as more than decorative craftwork by revealing its historical depth and contemporary relevance. We invite art lovers, craft enthusiasts, and the curious to discover the artistic potential of this ancient technique through the eyes of today’s most gifted stitching artists.
